Desert Driving

Off-road desert driving in Kuwait is a unique experience. Desert terrain consists of much more than just large, drifting sand dunes. In addition, the soil texture varies from soft, fine-grained sand to hard-packed sand, pebbles, gravel, and rocks. In many places there is a combination of all these.

Nevertheless, the Pajero is a smooth riding vehicle on almost all surfaces, and thanks to the Pajero's desert rally origins, it benefits from independent suspension at all four corners.

These pictures were taken October 2005. It is spring time so the weather is very nice for camping in the desert.

Long driving in Kuwait deserts are bit boring for the kids because you will just be traveling thru an ocean of sand... nothing but sand around you. In front of you is a horizon of sand, except for few camel caravans who would stop you to trade water and food for fresh camels milk.

We were going the opposite to Iraq which is Saudi Arabia. To Iraq is dangerous as of now. The Military camps are located near the borders of Iraq. There you can see military activities and the military equipments. The weapons are awesome.

Kuwait is a very small country, not much for long distance driving. The excitement is when you go pass the border to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon. But the thing is you will be paying for the visa for each country that you pass which would be costly rather taking the plane and also more comfortable for the children.
